Youth

Life's a Journey! We'll Help You Find The Way.

It's not easy being a youth, particularly in today's fast-paced and often turbulent world.  It's true -- life's a journey.  The Youth Ministry at Littleton United Methodist Church recognized the challenges youth face.  In response, a thougtfully and carefully designed Youth Ministry program is in place to help today's youth pack for the journey of life.  Our philosophy is simple -- introduce youth to the love and grace of Jesus Christ and help them learn from His many teachings.  It's not easy.  We're not always successful.  But the bottom line is that Jesus Christ provides youth with the tools necessary to live a joy-filled life.  A life which is base on faith, hope, and love.

In His Grace,

Mike Robbins, Director of Youth & Lay Ministries

7 Areas of Youth Ministry

The Youth Ministry at Littleton United Methodist Church recognizes the needs to today's youth.  In response, a thoughtful and carefully designed Youth Ministry program is being implemented.  A cross-section of seven areas of ministry serves as the framework for a comprehensive Youth Ministry program at LUMC.  Distinctive programming for Middle School (grades 6-8) and High School (grades 9-12) youth is featured.  The seven areas of ministry include:

  • Education
  • Worship
  • Mission
  • Fellowship
  • Affirmation
  • Outreach
  • Retreat

Youth Ministry Purpose Statement

The purpose of LUMC's Youth Ministry is to REACH youth and their families; to CONNECT them with other Christians; to help them GROW in their faith; to challenge them to DISCOVER their ministry, and to HONOR God with their lives.

Youth Sunday School

The Youth Ministry at Littleton United Methodist Church offers many opportunities for youth.  The church is committed to providing youth (grades 6-12) learning opportunities in which to grow as Christians in a fun and spirited environment.  It's during the Sunday School hour that youth foster new friendships, learn about their Christian faith and heritage, and experience Christianity in action.  A Youth Sunday School Class is available for 6th grade; 7th grade; 8th grade; and one High School class on Sunday morning.  Sunday School for youth begins at 9:45 a.m. and ends at 10:45 a.m. in The Way Station.

FastBreak Sports

LUMC's premier sports & recreation ministry, called FastBreak, is available to all youth on the second and fourth Wednesday's of each month (September - May).  From 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., the church gym is available exclusively for youth to play basketball, volleyball, indoor soccer and more!  It's tons of fun!

United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF)

There are plenty of opportunities for fun, fellowship, and spiritual growth during Sunday evening activities for youth!  The Youth Fellowship Group meets in Grant Fellowship Hall on Sundays from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.  During Youth Fellowship, Middle School and High School youth gather for fun and fellowship which includes songs, skits, and games.  Following the festive gathering, both groups split to enjoy active-learning activities designed for their specific age-level.

Youth Music Ministry / CrossFire

Sunday afternoon is set aside for rehearsal of LUMC's Youth Music Ministry.  The youth choir is called CrossFire.  Named for the Methodist symbol of the cross & flame, CrossFire is comprised of youth in grades 6-12, from many schools.  The group is committed to celebrating their faith through music and leading others in worship at the 8:30 a.m. service each week.  Rehearsals are prior to UMYF at 4:30 p.m. in the choir room.  For more information about CrossFire contact David Kates, Director of Music & Worship Ministries, at 303.794.6379 (ext. 247).

Quest Bible Study

High School Youth have the opportunity to dig deep into the scriptures and discuess some interesting spiritual questions at Quest Bible Study.  The study takes place on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in The Way Station.  Questions?  Need more information?  Contact Mike Robbins, Director of Youth & Lay Ministries, at 303.794.6379 (ext. 248).

Girl's/Guy's Night Out
