Sr. Minister Appointment
Dr. Merv Graham, Chair of Staff Parish Relations Committee, announced the name and background of LUMC's incoming Senior Minister at both services on March 18.
Her name is the Rev. Trudy Robinson. Trudy is currently the Senior Minister at First Church, Cheyenne, which has a membership of 1,100 people. Trudy has pastored this church since 2005. She will take up her appointment here at LUMC on July 1, 2012. Trudy will be establishing herself in the office and become orientated to the staff, history and ministries of LUMC during the month of July. During the first four Sundays of July there will be an interim period with various preachers to allow for a seamless transition. Trudy will lead her first service as Senior Minister, on Sunday, July 29.
Trudy's undergraduate degree (B.A. in Art with High Honors) is from California State University. She earned her M.Div at the School of Theology, Claremont in 1995 and was an Iliff graduate in 1998, receiving an M.Div with Distinction. Trudy was ordained Elder in Full Connection in June, 2002.
Trudy has two daughters, Emily (21) and Chloe (19); a cat named Timmy and a Golden Retriever named Lucy.
Before entering ministry, Trudy was the founder and owner of Robinson Design Studio in Covina, California. She states that her passion is creative worship and effective preaching.
In the material she supplied to SPRC, Trudy describes her leadership style in this way:
“I believe that anything a team of people can create is going to be stronger and more effective than anything an individual creates. I enjoy the process of discovering what a team discerns, imagines, develop, and commits to, even as I understand my role to guide, nurture, lead, and decide. I like to make space for creative thinking, risk-taking and learning from our failures. I am collaborative in leadership style and strive for consensus. I operate out of a strong sense of grace. I am confident in my skills and my calling, and offer them as gift to the congregation I serve, eager to discover and receive the gifts the members offer to the sake of our shared ministry.”
Our Staff Parish Relations Committee was introduced to Trudy by District Superintendent, Dr. Melanie Rosa on Sunday, March 11. Following a long period of discussion, members unanimously agreed to invite Trudy to be LUMC's Senior Minister.
